Scope of Services
Joseph V. Sherman, P.C. offers legal services ranging from representation of property owners and tenants in a government exercise of eminent domain to tenant relocation benefits, land use consultation and negotiation, trial attorney services, litigation in defense of real property rights, and real estate transaction and appraisal consultation. The Firm provides free consultations by telephone to all potential clients. All engagements for services thereafter are undertaken at prices and terms to be determined after the initial consultation, and based upon the complexity of the matter and the specific services to be rendered. All services are performed within the bounds of Virginia law, and the governing rules of professional ethics for Commonwealth attorneys.
No Attorney-Client Relationship without Engagement

Service and Billing Engagement
Prospective clients are provided a free telephone consultation to permit a review of their legal needs. In the event Joseph V. Sherman, P.C. should be engaged for legal services, an engagement agreement will be provided setting forth the nature of the representation, fee structure, billing practices, and other terms particular to your case. The Firm structures fees based upon the prospective client matter complexity and nature of the legal process, including hourly fees, flat fees, and contingency fee arrangements within the limits permitted by law. Client Responsibilities
Clients and prospective clients must provide accurate, complete, and timely information requested by the Firm. Failure to do so may adversely impact the quality and effectiveness of the legal representation. Clients also have a duty to review and understand the terms of their engagement agreements and fee schedules as well as their obligations during the course of the attorney-client relationship.
Conflicts of Interest
Joseph V. Sherman, P.C. performs conflict checks prior to forming an attorney-client relationship. If a conflict of interest is found that would prevent the Firm from handling a matter, the Firm will immediately inform the affected parties and, where appropriate, suggest referrals to other competent attorneys.
Ethical Compliance
Joseph V. Sherman, P.C. also adopts and observes the Rules of Professional Conduct of the Virginia State Bar and strives to maintain the highest ethical standards in all dealings with its clients and in every matter in which it is engaged.
